Kinfolks

What a day this has been. Drove to the woods, Ottumwa, and Mt Pleasant.
After an afternoon rest we headed to Attica and Kinfolks restaurant.
We should have taken our camera.
Kinfolks is really good Bar b q. Tim ordered a full slab of beef ribs. The plate was piled high and he had to use two plates for the sides and roll.
It took him exactly and hour to eat every morsel. WE had a great time out together. I am certain his bottomless pit stomach was full tonight.

  1. That there boy can eat! No doubt. At times when we'd visit one of our favorite Mexican restaurants here in town he would order two dinners! Two - and eat them both.

Remember there as you're working things out with Tim:

1- His mentality is really that of a young teen.

2- He needs very clear instruction; such as a check-list of "to-do's".

3- Without activity to keep him going, he will opt for simply sleeping the time away.

4- He wants to succeed, but he will at times fail. Clear expectations with grace goes a long way. The big thing is that he stays clear of drugs and illegal activities. We've encouraged Tim that with trust being broken multiple times now that it will take time -- with transparency and accountability -- to rebuild that trust. I think he understands that; we will continue to encourage him along that way.

Tim is one of those "troubled teens". Yes he's an "adult" and he's the grand-child, which complicates things a bit, but the struggles he has; the probelematic legal history (hopefully stays in the past), and the manic-depressive bi-polar mental health certainly qualifies as "troubled". I sincerely hope he continues down the road of recovery and am extremely grateful for the two of you putting yourselves out there again for Tim. Although he's not very outward with his emotion and excitement, I know that inside there is a young man that himself is very thankful for the family he's a part of.

    Thank you!

    Jim
